Being different has always appealed to me. So when I write books, I like to twist things around. For instance, in Conquest of the Heart, set it post Conquest England, my hero is a virgin. And he is one of the conquered, not a big, brash Norman knight.

In The Shrew That Tames I took the opportunity to rewrite Shakespeare. I hated how Kate got treated in that play. She had reasons for being a shrew, but no one ever thought of her and her feelings. They just wanted her money.

In my story, The Shrew That Tames, Katherine is a Regency heiress who has good reasons for being a shrew. She doesn't hate men. But she does want a man who isn't just after her money, one she can share her scientific and intellectual pursuits with.

I give another twist to my story by having this lovely heiress ask an impoverished fortune hunter to marry her. And she has good reasons for this, too!

Excerpt:
The evening of the Harrington's ball, Ashfair and Sir Anthony escorted the Driscol sisters and their mother to the event. Bianca was besieged at once, and her dance card filled quickly.
Katherine stood to the side, watching her sister's card fill.
Ashfair bowed over her hand. "Will you do me the honor of adding my name to your card, Miss Driscol?"
She clutched her card tighter, her head up. "Really, my lord, you do not have to dance with me simply because you are my escort."
His brow went up. The men in this town were all fools if they would dance with such a lovely woman only to edge closer to her money or her sister and not herself. How many times had she been hurt because of it? "You are right, of course. I have to dance with you because I want to see what it is like to hold you in my arms. There are two waltzes this evening. Please put my name beside one of them. And if you will honor me with a second dance, the quadrille would be nice."
As she added his name to her card, he bent to whisper, "I wish I could dance more than twice with you."
"You are entirely too forward, my lord." He heard her set down. However, he also saw the blush that tinged her cheeks. He tried not to smile, but he was beginning to enjoy teasing a blush into her cheeks.
Katherine had a smattering of attention, mostly, Ashfair thought, from those hoping to win Bianca's approval. He was amazed Katherine could be so easily disregarded. True, she could wield a waspish tongue, but every set down she rendered was, in his opinion, well deserved.
At last they began the quadrille, and Ashfair led Katherine onto the dance floor. As they went through the forms of the dance, he noticed that she became transformed. Her features softened, she gracefully floated, and pleasure sparkled in her eyes.
"You love to dance!" he exclaimed.
Laughing, she agreed. "I always have."
The movements took them apart for a moment. When they came together again he said, "A smile or two from you and your dance card would be full."
Her mouth pursed. "And be forced to endure every crack-wit fortune hunter in the place with sweaty hands and a penchant for writing bad verses to my eyes?" She shook her head. "I'd rather be a wallflower."
Surely by now she knew he was one of those fortune hunters. He pulled her close. "You are dancing with me."
She tossed her head. "You do not have sweaty hands, my lord."
"And so far, I have failed to write a single ode to your eyes. What a dastardly escort I am."
"Yes, terrible." She laughed.

What would you do for someone you love?

Would you fight to the death to save someone you love? Would you travel a thousand miles to rescue them? What makes a hero or heroine push the limits?

Sergeant Jinn Dennison seeks her identical twin sister, Julie, in the Mexican rainforest. She 'feels' that Julie is dying. The only think keeping her away from Julie is time, and Tab (Toxic) McTavish, the captain of Julie's team, Toxic Tango Troop, an elite team of soldiers whose mission it is to take down a drug lord.

Tab  thinks Jinn is Julie and a traitor to the team and gave them up to the enemy. She can't prove her innocence because she and her sister are highly classified secrets in the military. They are both psychic in the extreme. Alone, they are powerful, but together they can be deadly.

The only thing besides their natures that will set the women apart is their matching dragon tattoos on their bellies, and the love of a man. When you think of it, love and war go hand in hand. Battling hearts or soldiers still leaves a wide open gap to fill. Each story blends the two until they are one.

Imagine you're at home with your partner and there is friction between you. Do you fight back, or offer your heart to resolve the issues? Misunderstandings are commonplace in romantic tales, but when the characters both see eye to eye, fires light up and hearts fill with love.

Join Jinn and Tab in JINN & TOXIC - book 1 of the Toxic Tango Troop series. Book 2 is Julie's story, MINX JULIETTE (coming soon). Don't miss them. Get your copy today at www.breathlesspress.com

EXCERPT

After a long, uneventful day, Jinn was exhausted and tired of waiting for Tab to follow through on his threats. With no chance to get past his defenses and the team never far away, she remained captive.

There'd been no contact from Julie, but the mild pain in Jinn's chest assured her that her sister was alive. They'd found few signs of humans passing, and the trail was getting cold. Many of the teammates were getting frustrated.

Jane Burgess, one of their female soldiers who they called Spitfire, was a prisoner of the enemy and that boded ill for her. From what Jinn had seen with Angel, the rebels were brutal with women.

Angel still hadn't spoken more than a few words since her release. She'd withdrawn into herself as though to block out the world. Tab and Gonzales watched over her. Jinn studied Tab as he fed the woman and realized by the tender care as he wiped some meat juice off her chin with his thumb that he had feelings for her. A twinge of jealousy reared its green head.

Jennings sat down beside Jinn and studied her for a few moments before she spoke, the first of the soldiers to even acknowledge her since she'd been unveiled by Tab.

"I don't know what's changed about you or why all the lies, Dennison, but I want to tell you something; Don't you harm the Captain or anyone else on this team, or you're a dead woman whether you helped us or not. Understand?"

The serious frown on her face caused Jinn to realize there was more to the threat than simple protectiveness. "You're in love with the Captain, aren't you?"

A flush turned Jennings' cheeks red as she stood.

"I meant what I said."

Jinn nodded. "I'll take that into consideration. As I said before, I'm not here to harm anyone. I have a job to do, and I'm going to do it with or without the help of TT&T."

"As long as your job doesn't jeopardize the rest of us, I'm good with that." Jennings stood and moved off to sit with the others, leaving Jinn to her thoughts.

The hairs on the back of her neck stood up, and she realized that someone was watching her, she looked up and met Tab's brooding gaze. Her lips tingled at the memory of his mouth on hers, his body mastering her on the ground earlier. She licked her lips unconsciously and nearly grinned when his eyes dropped to watch the movement. He might pretend to be impartial, but by the growing bulge in his pants, he was anything but.

Tab turned around and disappeared into the forest. Satisfaction was a sweet tool.
